Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- Using your NHS account through the NHS website or NHS App.
- Using the GP online system – Patient Access .
These services show your repeat medicines and dosages so you can choose the medicines you need.
You can also bring your paper repeat prescription request to The College Practice : Rush Green Medical Centre during normal opening hours.
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or by email.
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from your nominated pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. This is called nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at your GP practice
- at any pharmacy that accepts electronic prescriptions
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacist can help. Pharmacists can also answer questions about medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information about how medicines work, how and when to take them, possible side effects and answers to common questions.

Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to have a regular medication review.
We will contact you when a review is due.

About pharmacists
Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals and can offer advice about many minor illnesses, including:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy problems
- aches and pains
They can also advise you about medicines you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open late and at weekends. You usually do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss health concerns with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
